Inland Empire waterkeeper

It is no secret that water and everything that it can carry runs downhill. Orange County Coastkeeper cannot effectively fulfill our mission of protecting coastal waters by focusing our efforts in Orange County alone. We must extend our work to include the entire watershed.  In 2005 Orange County Coastkeeper opened an entirely new "Keeper" organization: Inland Empire Waterkeeper.

The Inland Empire Waterkeeper seeks to identify potential water quality issues before they impact the coast and promote the use of best available technologies throughout the region.  These goals will be reahed through interaction with developers, businesses, local governments and regulatory agencies to ensure water quality management and planning is a priority, and that clean water laws are being implemented. Legal action will be initiated, where appropriate, to encourage the enforcement of strict water quality standards. Additionally, a main priority for the Inland Empire Waterkeeper is to educate the general public of their importance as members of coastal cities.

A partnership with Inland Empire Waterkeeper enables Coastkeeper to identify and solve water quality issues throughout the entire watershed. Healthy creeks and rivers will ensure that current and future residents of the area enjoy a better quality of life
